Easter is a time where we remember our Lord’s agonising and painful mission to carry the sins of the world on a cross of shame. We feel the darkness on that awful Friday where death reigns, where Christ’s body is crushed by the physical torture of a ‘cross’ death, where the weight of my sin and yours leads to separation from his Father. But we will wake up on Easter Sunday knowing the joy of resurrection, of victory over death and sin. Mission accomplished? Yes. Yet it took time for the disciples to understand Easters significance. It took until Pentecost for them to understand their place in the mission. For fire to come into their mission. Let’s not forget, we are no different. We too need to allow the Spirit of our living God to work through us so that we might be effective. What might that mean for you?
