Dave & Dawn, Singapore (Day 5)
Dave and Dawn will lead a team of 22 to the Thai/Burma border on 21ST - 25TH December. The Team will put on a Christmas party for about 140 school students, staff, and volunteers. We will also present the Christmas story. Pray for good weather over this time and that it will be received well by the devout Buddhists attending.
Allan & Marven, Singapore (Day 5)
Allan's co-teaching of the on-campus sessions of an AGST Alliance MTh(Ed)/EdD module on research methods went well. It was an eye-opening challenge for the six participants, who need these skills for their (imminent, for two) thesis research. Marven has finished her ESL teaching for the year. Pray for their refreshment as they take a relaxed break on a Malaysian island (15th - 21st December), and have a lighter time over Christmas. Pray also for preparation as Marven starts teaching again on 3rd January.
Colleen, India (Day 8)
I ask prayer for Abitha, an 11 year old in the Sponsorship department who is suffering from a disease called Osteomyelitis of both femur malunion of right lower femur with big sequestrum on both sides. As the operation was so complicated, we had to admit her into another hospital for surgery. This has now taken place and she has been discharged and has been re-admitted in our hospital for further care and management. I want you to pray very specially that soon Abitha will be able to walk normally and that this disease will not recur as the doctors feel it can because of the poverty that they live in. It is really sad to see a young girl suffering like this.
Brett & Karen, USA (Day 20)
For those of you who have been following our journey as a family we have started a new YWAM Ships ministry in Orange County CA. For many who may not know us we spent 20 years working for Mercy Ships then the last 8 years with YWAM San Diego/Baja building homes for the poor in Mexico. Now our new assignment is to pioneer another vessel for YWAM out of the Americas – please pray for this. Here is a promo video that explains a little of what we are envisioning: http://youtu.be/fH8o1_Fk48o
Craig & Darlene, Thailand (Day 4)
Praise Him that some friends have the opportunity to do a Christmas programme at the preschool Melody attends. Ask that the children and staff will be open to learning the true meaning.
Graeme & Rachel, Philippines (Day 3)
While school is out for three weeks around Christmas, the Flemings will be together in their home in Batangas, apart from a few days holiday in Davao, spending time there with friends, Lord willing. In Batangas, Hannah is to be working hard on her translation into Tagalog of David MacLeod's book on Hebrews and the rest will of us will be helping with various checks on translations, especially the daily devotional book that is a bestseller here in the Philippines.
Glenys, Africa/NZ (Day 13)
Sierra Leone is a sad country with so much need. It breaks my heart to see adults still living with cleft lips and bearing the taunts from fellow countrymen, plus going through life with no friends and being accused of being bewitched or demon possessed – please pray over this country.
Lynette, Kenya/NZ (Day 11)
Please pray for safety for the rest of my travel and blessed visits and goodbyes in Europe. I fly to the states tomorrow for more goodbyes and to spend Christmas with special friends.
Joseph & Helen, RAC (Day 19)
God is working here, through the political turbulence. After the period of violence and renewed demonstrations in different parts of the country, the elections, so far have been free from violence, praise God, although there have been lots of reported mass cheating and irregularities, the election is happening in stages throughout the country, and will continue till mid-January. Some areas haven't voted yet so it's too early for results to be known. We're praying for a restriction of the likely scenario of zealous religious groups taking control. The group meetings we run haven't been too much disturbed by the current circumstances, although one of them is on hold. We pray that Christians throughout this country would be using God's power in their lives to overcome fear by the word of their testimony, and glorify God amongst their fellow countrymen, and that we would be always sensitive to God's guiding in our coming and going!
Brett & Michelle, Australia (Day 1)
Please pray for wisdom, strength and encouragement for Bunumbirr (Gerard), a strong local Yolngu Christian man involved in ministry who we work alongside. He is facing discouragement and many trials with mediating for his clan regarding distribution of mining royalties owed to them, which are taking a toll on ministry. He and his mother were instrumental in leading over 40 kids to Christ in November, and we ask for prayer that he will deliver another strong message and call to follow Christ next Tue 21st when over 80 kids will be presented with an Action Bible (illustrated bible). The parents have been invited too. Please also pray for a MAF Christmas Outreach to the remote homelands during the week after Christmas, to share the real meaning of Christmas. We need Yolngu Christian helpers, including Gerard who can share in their heart language.
Grant & Nilva, Brazil (New)
We will be returning to Brazil on the 5th of January after having had a break from missionary work for about five years. We will be teaching English as a means of reaching out to people in two different settings: in a language school and in a church, as part of their evangelistic outreach to the community. We will be based in Campinas, which is about one hour out of Sao Paulo and about one hour from where we used to be. Please pray for our two younger children Delano (17) and Katrina (13) as they start afresh in a new school. Melinda our oldest is staying in New Zealand, she's at Massey University in Albany, but very keen to do a year at Bible College.
