Barrywan Tuwai

Church Ministries Coordinator, CBCPNG

Barrywan Tuwai is the Church Ministries Coordinator in the CBC National Office, Papua New Guinea.  Barrywan has a multi-faceted role, working alongside leaders in local churches and helping to coordinate joint ministries of the Christian Brethren Churches. These include liaising with Bible Schools to run in-service training for staff and curriculum planning, helping to facilitate national level youth and women’s conferences, local and overseas mission outreach, and facilitating translation projects like the team working on the Yuna Old Testament

Barrywan was a teacher who gave up his teaching career to go full-time to the Christian Leaders Training College to complete a B.Th. degree. The CBC Coordinating Committee invited him to take up his present role after his graduation.

Barrywan fills a strategic role in a country where the geography and cultural diversity makes cooperative action difficult. People often call on him for pastoral advice and prayer. His demanding role involves quite a lot of travel to other centers.

Initially, Global Connections in Mission supported Barrywan’s position, but overseas and PNG churches are being looked to, to meet his continuing support requirements.

Are you looking for meaningful partnerships in cross-cultural mission? This is an opportunity for you or your church to partner a key national leader. The total annual of support required for Barrywan and his ministry is NZ$21,500 or $1800 monthly. This could represent 18 Team Support shares of $100 per month. (Office costs are raised within PNG)
