Kos Umion

General Secretary, CBCPNG

Kos Umion is the General Secretary at the Christian Brethren Churches of PNG National Office. He replaced Ossie Fountain in this role in September 2008. Kos is team leader in the office with others working with him.  He is responsible to the CBC Coordinating Committee, which meets at least once a year to network and plan the joint ministries and outreach of the 460 Christian Brethren Churches of Papua New Guinea.

Kos has a key role in networking with overseas partners, NGOs, government departments and other church groups. He is the point of contact for overseas visitors, work parties, short and longer-term expatriates who want to work with CBCPNG.

Kos came to this position with wide experience. Formerly he worked in the Department of Civil Aviation and as Ground operations Manager in Mission Aviation. He was Chairman of Christian Books Melanesia for some years too. From the early 1990s he played a formative role in developing the CBC Coordinating Committee structure, constitution and vision. With a degree in business management, he is keen to develop others into responsible leadership roles. Kos’ wife, Elizabeth, is a significant leader in Women’s ministries in CBC too.

Kos urgently needs a more adequate support base of people who will pray and support him financially. The Fountain’s home church have committed to his support but this needs to be supplemented by others. This is an opportunity for you or your church to partner with a key PNG church leader. Perhaps you could commit to Team Support of Kos in his ministry.

Total annual support requirement for Kos and his ministry: NZD31,600 or $2600 monthly. This could represent 26 Team Support shares of $100 per month. (Office costs are raised within PNG)
